I wrote for 30 days

I did it!

I wrote, and published something every day for 30 days.

As I said in my first thoughts about this Challenge I was going to clean out all my drafts, then write some little thing, and push the publish button.

Stephen King, American author best known for h...I have been doing so.

My drafts on Data Warehousing, Comments about Search Engine Optimization, Being a DBA all of the original hastily scribbled notes have been polished, updated an published.

Now what?

I accomplished what I set out to accomplish.

I hope that some of the notes I have shared on this forum have been satisfying, even in some small capacity.

I do not know if I will keep it up and continue writing every day. I do have some ideas of things to continue writing about mostly R, or maybe a few commentaries that run through my mind.

I will be putting out a Poll shortly to ask everyone if I should keep writing, publishing, and updating the world about my progress.

What do you think I should do?

Write for 30 days update 1

Day 10

I have mostly cleaned out my draft pages. Many of my drafts were simple titles that at one point in time seemed like a good idea. When I went to edit the post to update it I found that the actual body of the text was empty.

Apparently at one point in time, I had plenty of grand ideas about professional topics to write about.

Now, for some of them I recognize the title looks interesting, but I don't have the whole thought stream recorded.

So in the future when I get an idea, I will write more than just a title for a draft.

Chances are it will need plenty of editing, sources cited, etc...

But writing more than just the title will get it that much closer to pushing the publish button.

The first book I ever wrote I ended up summarizing in draft form on this blog, and over the next 20 days I will push out that content.

I no longer do on a daily basis what I did when I wrote that content, but I still think the content is valid and noteworthy.  I will be sharing it with the world, nevertheless.

Are you writing?

How is it going?

Writing for 30 days challenge

Writing for 30 days

Can you do it?

Quite by happenstance, I found myself writing at the beginning of  this year.

I did not set a new years resolution to write more.

On New Years day, I did get inspired to create a few R packages. I have a feeling I will need some tools like this in the near future, so I started putting the basics together to use later.

Then I found something odd.

It involves three different tools, so I thought others might have seen something similar I wrote about it and posted it here. Then the next day, I wrote about my little package so I could send it out to a few people to take a look at.

After posting that I realized I had just written every day this year. 2 for 2, but still it's 100% :)

I looked through some of my draft unpublished posts I have started over the years.

I have 50 posts unpublished.

So, I updated one, revised it, finished it, and published it.

That was Yesterday.

Day 3.

Here I go, I am going to publish something at least once a day till the end of January. I will be going through all of my drafts and cleaning them out. Some will be deleted, others will be updated, but at the end of the 30 days I will post how many of my drafts I have left.

I have always attempted to keep this blog relevant to data type topics, or at least professional topics.

In order to write every day for 30 days I will bend this guideline I have set for myself a bit.

I will write at least a paragraph, sometimes even longer. But I want this to be more than a tweet, or a facebook post. I may not always say something insightful, data related, professional, but I will write and publish a post for all to see every day for 30 days.

I encourage you to write as well.

LinkedIN, Facebook, these are both great platforms for topical comments about work or play.

YOU write something. If you never post on Facebook, hold your breath, bite your tongue and write "Hello World!" on Facebook.

Even a small Verse of a paragraph is a start.

Maybe something you say will start a conversation.

 You never know.

In the immortal words of Robin Williams: "What will your verse be?"
